History of the Empire

"About 16,000 years ago before the First Great War, long before the War of the Ancients, trolls lorded over much of Kalimdor (then a single continent). There were twin troll empires -- the Gurubashi Empire of the southeastern jungles and the Amani Empire of the middle forestlands.

There were smaller tribes that lived far to the north (in the region now known as Northrend). These tribes founded a small nation known as Gundrak, but never achieved the size or prosperity of the southern empires.

The Gurubashi and the Amani empires had little love for one another, but rarely warred against each other. At the time, their greatest common enemy was a third empire -- the civilization of Azi'Aqir in the far west. The expansionistic aqir sought to eradicate all non insect life from Kalimdor.

The twin empires fought them for many thousands of years, but never won a decisive victory. Eventually due to the trolls' persistance, the aqiri kingdom split in half and its citizens were driven into exile in separate locations.

With the threat culled, the empires returned to business as u sual. Despite their victory, neither civilization expanded much farther than their original boundaries. However, ancient texts speak of a small faction of Amani trolls that broke off from the empire and founded their own colony in the heart of the dark continent where they discovered the cosmic Well of Eternity..."
(From wikipedia)

A large portion of the Amani trolls living at the well fully embraced the power of the Well and began referring to themselves as the Quel'dorei, or highborn. This caused a rift between them and those who did not fully trust the power of the Well. The Well's power altered these Quel'dorei, transforming them into beings of immense power.

A young witch doctor by the name of Zabado was among those who did not trust the Well, frequently speaking out against embracing the unknown power with so much abandon. He and those like him believed that the Well's incredible power would come at a heavy price, and that it should only be used in moderation, and for the good of all Trolls.

It did not take long for the young witch doctor's words to give rise to anger among the Quel'dorei, now lead by an ambitious priestess named Azshara. Seeking to make an example of him and his followers, Queen Azshara ordered them bound and banished into the very Well they so distrusted. This was their great undoing.

Zabado, Sajuka, Kenshii, Volid, Jangor and several others were banished that dark day, when the Quel'dorei loosed magic never before seen in the realms of the living, forcing the corporeal beings into the Well, against the flow of its power. The astonishing power required to banish the group into the Well of Eternity caused a ripple, a small but distinct reverberation that would draw the attention of an even greater threat, the Burning Legion.

For many centuries the banished drifted in the Well, in a vision-filled slumber. Amidst visions of their brethren being butchered by the Quel'dorei they slumbered, crying out in their dream-state as the mighty empires began to crack and crumble under the might of their once-brethren. They dreampt horible dreams of a dark force, and a great war, where the world itself was torn asunder.

Zabado then had a vision, a stark change from destruction and carnage of the others. A collosal empire of Trolls, engaged on some distant field, each branded with a mark resembling both that of the Amani and Gurubashi. This band of warriors fiercely cut down the Quel'dorei, sending them fleeing the battle in stark terror.

"Is this our destiny?", he asked.

The vision faded, replaced by the bright light of the noonday sun as he lay there on the beach, his comrades scattered about to either side, all seeming to wake as he did, disoriented and confused.

A young Troll named Senjull came upon them, and seeing them alive, quickly offered nourishment and began speaking in a language they had never heard. Soon Zabado and his men regained their strength, though the time spent away from the waking world had drained them of their once-great combat prowess. Sitting around a small fire in the Sen'Jin Villiage several days later, Kenshii asked the question weighing on the minds of all.

"What do we do now? The world has changed."

Zabado looked up from the fire, gazing off into the distance as if deep in thought. The stories of what had happened as they slept, related from Senjull, had seen their worst nightmares realized. The great Troll empires were no more, and the Darkspear Trolls had allied themselves with this new race, the Orcs.

"The Amani and Gurubashi have fallen." He stated, looking grimly from face to face of his comrades. "Today we are all that lives of that time, today we become the Amangur Empire, and restore that which was taken from our people."
