Paladin

Paladin is a hybrid class, meaning that you can tank, dps, or heal based upon the gear and spec that you choose.

Holy
The holy tree is designed to maximize your ability to heal. Holy paladins require quite a bit of gear to be effective. However, once you reach a certain point, they are one of the most effective healers in the game.

This is the ideal glyph and talent selection for Holy Pally PVE.

As far as gear is concerned, you will want a balance of high spell power, high critical strike, high intelligence, some haste and some mp5.

Once your spellpower is above 1700, you should itemize in the following fashion:
Spellpower >= Int > Crit > Haste = mp5 > spirit

During a raid, you will most often cast Beacon of Light on a tank. It is also wise to try to keep Sacred Shield on one or more people, as it raises your flash of light crit chance by 50% while active. Often you will get the best results by healing other tanks or raid members, and letting your beacon hit for full effect.

Holy Light becomes very powerful for healing area of effect damage. Holy shock should be used often, as it frequently crits, which gives you 1 second off your next holy light cast, or an instant flash of light.

A very important ability to use on every cool down is Divine Plea. This spell reduces your healing by 20% and gives you a TON of mana back over 20 seconds, on a 1 minute cooldown. Since a large portion of a paladins heals are pure overhealing (meaning that you heal for more than the target needs), the reduction of your heals by 20% will not be significant in terms of effective healing.

Avenging Wrath is also important for healing, as it increases the amount you heal for by 20%. I tend to use both Divine Plea and Avenging Wrath at the same time, unless the specific fight requires more healing at a strategic time.

This is the talent and glyph selection I would choose for PVP as holy.

Generally its best to Beacon yourself in PVP, since you will be within 40 range of whoever you heal. Holy Shock and Flash of Light are your primary spells. You will often want to avoid using Holy Light due to the long cast time, making it easy to interrupt. Divine Plea is again important, however you will rarely if ever use Avenging Wrath, due to the 30 second lockout on Divine Shield.

Retribution
The ret tree is a melee damage tree, designed around melee and spell attacks. Critical strikes are an important part of ret, as many talents and abilities revolve around crits.

Protection
The prot tree is a tanking tree, designed around using spell attacks to generate threat, and emphasizing the shield as a defensive mechanism.
